About Us:

Many of you may not be aware that Truro sponsors Boy Scout Troop 918. We have over 50 boys from across Fairfax and Prince William Counties. Why do these boys travel from far and wide to attend Scouts at Truro? The answer is found in the Scout Oath, where a Scout promises to do his duty to God, and in the Scout Law, where a Scout is described as reverent. While all troops encourage these two points, our troop is truly a Christ-centered troop. Every meeting and activity opens and closes with prayer and almost all of our service projects are centered on supporting one of the churches our Scouts attend. While the majority of Scouting is about learning outdoor skills and leadership, it is also about spreading the Gospel. I see this every week as our older Scouts teach the younger boys with grace and compassion. We have several boys in our troop with special needs, and together I see our boys learning the life skills of patience and understanding as they integrate these boys into their activities; it is truly a display of God’s Grace every week. If you have a boy 11–17 who would like to spend time in this environment, please join us any Tuesday at 7:30 in The Upper Room. For more information please visit http://www.scoutsign.com.
